Getting there: Just outside Pulau Tikus Market.

Meal: -

They sell soya sauce from crock or vats; you can also buy them in bottles. You save RM0.30 if you bring your own bottle. Special feature is you can get first harvest sauce from this place. First harvest is usually the best tasting soya sauce. Main downside is that it contains MSG.

Getting there: Opposite Pulau Tikus Police Station. Solok Moulmein. Beside Kedai Kopi Swee Kong

Meal: Breakfast

Sometimes, finding lots of good food in one place and faced with the choice of having only one type is not enough. Luckily, in Penang, servings are small. This place, just off the Pulau Tikus market is open mainly for breakfast. It is so popular; I got my seat stolen twice. Chee cheong fun is very good, thick prawn pate sauce and sour chilli sauce. I think it is the best dish here. Not easy to find the chee cheong fun guy as they are stashed in a corner. He is located to the right of the shop signboard selling kuih.

Char siew pau was so-so. Teochew kuih is not bad. Koay teow tng is quite good. The kong fu char looks very appealing.

Remarks: Head for the chee cheong fun. Opens in the morning, the early bird catches the early worm, and being beside the market, there are lots of early birds.
